To give you an idea of the diversity and interdependence of our “Friends” activities…

Hearing aid fitting An email from Keshab, on the NAHOH team in Nepal simply says “Sange and I went  Lumbini for the fitting the hearing .”

Sangye is the manager of Kopan Monastery’s medicine Buddha Clinic and works well with Keshab who is the “Ear Assistant” ie Audiometrist with Nepal’s NAHOH organisation.

Keshabs wages are paid by our HearingNEPAL Program.

Keshab's motor bikeThe hearing aids they fitted were sponsored by our friends from Germany who tested and selected the aids on a recent visit. Referring to the same journey, Sangye emails: “Recently i went to Lumbini with Keshab to fit hearing aids to some of his clients. It also turn out to be spiritual visit beside assisting Keshab, although the ride on his new bike was thrilling plus enjoyable.”

The bike was bought for Keshab by FRIENDS of HNP!

The moulds for the hearing aids are made by Sarita at NAHOH.  Sarita’s wages are subsidised by a “Friend of HNP” Natalie in Oman, on equipment supplied to NAHOH by our German friends.

shechen hospice patientHere is some good news on the young woman, mentioned in our last newsletter. Keshab emails: “She is improving now she eat food herself and use wheel chair. I talk with her brother and he thanks for food and after she discharge from shechen he wants to put in re-hab center I said him we will help her.” Her expenses are paid by “Friends of HNP” who have also purchased a wheelchair for her use, and two other wheelchairs for Shechen Hospice.

Keshab emails reports to us weekly, of his activites, some are related directly to HearingNEPAL Program, some are organised by Shechen Clinic and others by NAHOH’s ongoing programs. Resources and equipment are now used to benefit the most people we can.

Ear surgery NAHOHLast week’s email from Keshab: ” Now a days, we are helping for  patient to do ear surgery at  50 % discount .

This program was organised by Keshab, which he can do now that he has security of employment, thanks to Bernafon Hearing Instrument suppliers in Australia.

ManojPlease allow me to introduce you to Manoj. He is the “mobiliser” at Shechen Clinic, and works closely with Keshab and lew to maximise our effectiveness. Manoj took me (lew) to a three bedroomed house belonging to the little school nearby. The headmaster and his wife lived in one room, six girls from his school in another, and six boys in the third. These were street kids , now with home care and schooling. Friends of HNP are raising funds to help them also. Manoj is the tallest in the photo.

Donated booksWe also collect children’s picture books and stuffed toys in Australia, and distribute them in poorer schools and children’s homes. Thanks to Cannonvale Library, and our friends large and little, who have parted with their toys books, kids find joy in another land! (how did Keshab get in this picture?)

So that’s what we do, and without you

How could we! Love to you all

Keshab, Manoj and lew
