We received an email recently from the Joy Foundation – one of our support team in Nepal, who facilitated an Ear Camp at a local Aged Care Home.

Subject: Hearing Test at Old Age Home

Dear Sirs,

Old Age Home located at Bagmati Bridge, KathmanduJOY Foundation Nepal in association with Hearing Nepal Program, Australia, had organized a Hearing Test Program to the Senior Citizens of an Old Age Home located at Bagmati Bridge, Tinkune, Kathmandu on 6th April, 2014 (23rd Chaitra, 2070), Sunday.

There are altogether 41 senior citizens at this home. We have checked ears of 4 Male and 23 Female senior citizens totaling 27 persons. Among them 2 Male and 4 Female senior citizens were provided with Free Hearing Aids and necessary medicines were also freely distributed to all needed patients.

Mr. Keshav Maharjan and Miss Sarita Maharjan from Primary Ear Care Centre, Kirtipur who were associated with Hearing Nepal Program had done all necessary check-ups.
Mr. Pradip Shrestha from JOY Foundation Nepal took part in this program, which we feel very effective.

We hope this camp gave us some ideas to run Hearing Test Camp at Pashupati Old Age Home, which we are planning in near future.

With best regards,
Pradip Shrestha
JOY Foundation Nepal

Keshab also reports doing a 5 day Audiometry Training program at Bhaktapur CBR.
A wonderful example of grass roots resource development – this is our aim.

Cheers…lew
