  • HNP Committee meeting 2nd March: Propositions for AGM to consider: Name change, rule changes,- timing and compliance – contact us if you would like more details about these proposed changes.
  • Information dissemination: Less clutter… Lew will ear mark future communications either “FYI” or “ATTENTION” Then you can choose to open them as you like!
  • Newsletters will appear approx. weekly in this form… – you can ask for more info.
  • From NAHOH – Keshab:
    • ‘Last Wednesday, I went to the Bhaktapur for ear check program  and fitted the hearing aid.”
    • Ear Camp in Lumbini Keshab will use other hearing aids where possible this week, and keep the Chinese aids for more remote locations.
  • Teamsafe Transport: Keshab will meet with Shechen Clinic 10th March to seek their response to our offer. Kopan agreement offer has obstacles.
  • Wheelchairs
    • Keshab has provided 2 wheelchairs to a brother and sister, who previously only had a larger chair, which was not doorway accessible.
    • NAHOH now has the old chair which they will donate to another disabled person.

hearingnepal wheel differenceWheeled wheel chairDevina & Yogesh used to have to share the “wheeled chair” but now have folding wheelchairs of their own so they can be mobile inside & outside their home.

The replaced wheel chair (or should we say wheeled chair).
Would not fit through narrow doors – but will now go to a new owner who can use it. And the blessings pass on & on.

  • Kumari
    • Keshab advised that the local doctors report that surgery on Kumari’s hip is not an option as she will still be in a wheelchair.
    • Lew has asked for them to seek a second opinion and Keshab already planned to do this at another Private orthopaedic hospital this week.
  • German connection
    • Lew will be going to Nepal via Germany, and there is the opportiunity to bring some donated medicines from Germany with him. Keshab has advised Detlev of the list of drugs he requires for the Ladakh Ear Camp in June 2014.
  • Chinese Hearing Aids
    • Donated Chinese hearing aids were found to be ideally suited for the following:
    • For those living in remote regions where replacement batteries are not available
    • Those who cannot afford to buy special hearing aid batteries
    • As an introduction to the use of a hearing device/personal technology
    • Flexible sized fitting – suit most ears
    • Ease of fitting without the need for computerised programming
    • Sue has sent certificates of appreciation to those involved in sending these aids to HNP, and will continue to seek donation of more of these devices from the people who provided them (ABC Tissue Products Pty Ltd) in Sydney.
  • This lady received one of the Chinese hearing aids on our last ear camp at Palpa.
She could not afford to buy supplies of regular hearing aid batteries, but she had access to power to recharge the battery for this aid – a successful outcome for her.
