Breaking News!

When anyone in Australia DONATES to our program, THEY MAY CLAIM IT ON THEIR TAX RETURN AS A DEDUCTION!
We received the advice that we have been “gazetted” on the 20th April 2013. This was the final stage of a three year accreditation process with the Federal government, with gratitude to Katie, Tanya, Deb who rescued me from frustration during the process.

And now for our regular news…..

keshab news 25 marchNews from Keshab in Nepal:

  • Yesterday, We did ear camp with Shechen team at Jhaukel, Bhaktpur
  • Keshab will learn to drive a 4WD: He will go to the formal teaching institute and have addition private lessons.
  • Keshab is looking around for a suitable new 4WD, and we will look at them in a months time
  • A Nepalese lady contacted us through the web, has been referred to Keshab, and now has hearing aids…all good. She pays to NAHOH about $30, which ensures she values them.
  • Kumari and relatives have given consent for her orthopaedic operation. Keshab will check at least two more hospitals, and then will be guided from his heart! This must happen sooner rather than later. There are enough funds in Nepal to begin, and I will be there in one month with more money. Thanks to Friends of HNP!
  • Keshab and Sangye will make arrangements re transport and personnel for the next trip to Solu Khumbu – Chelsa Monastery Hearing Clinic. Lew will be there 17th April.

So with our newly won DGR status, we can actively expand the awareness of our program, as there is now a level playing field when prospective donors make their choice of charity.
We will be judged on our performance…our positives include

  • No Australian administration costs…many charities are around 10%
  • We love to rejoice in the happiness we can assist others to achieve
  • We are postmen, delivering the kindness of our sponsors to those in need, in many cases we are their only hope.
  • Most of our expenditure is in service delivery…to those who in general would not receive the benefits any other way!
  • We are hands on…working with and reviewing the outcomes with our trained local workers
  • We work with other like-minded charities so as to not duplicate services.
  • We are invited by local committees to visit their area, and they must agree to clear guidelines ensuring a discrimination free service
  • We deliver an appropriate and culturally acceptable benefit.
  • We continually appraise our effectiveness, and are receptive to all who feel they can contribute towards a better benefit to all
  • We seriously consider every opportunity we become aware of, to relieve the suffering of others
  • All our team have compassion and the provision of kindness as cornerstones of their life goals.
  • The runs are on the board…we know what we need to do…and find out how to do it!

Cheers…lew
