HH&H Our new banner for joint health & hearing campsThis December it will be 5 years since we tested our first person in Nepal, a senior monk at Kopan Monastery.

Our future is exciting, because it is sustainable, our benefit scope and areas serviced are increasing, and the number we have been able to inform and assist is ever growing.

We have changed our name because:
1. No borders, no politics as we have spread our benefit program into neighbouring countries

Hamro sunsine school simaltar (4)2. Health component. In association with Shechen Clinic and Hospice medical team: Munsoon Lekhamaru, Sanjula Malla, Dr. Puspa Baral, Unia Gurung and a very dedicated Manoj, their Social mobiliser and camp coordinator. The extension of health services by working with the Shechen team is helping enhanced health care become more accessible to those who suffer without resources to seek assistance.

We are more mobile because:

Our new car allows joint hearing & health camps

Our new car allows joint hearing & health camps

1. We have bought a new 4wd with funds loaned to us, long term and interest free. This enables us to travel safely, economically and without having the tedious negotiations of securing a vehicle possibly suitable at an affordable price.

2. We have replaced all our power hungry equipment with light weight, solid state digital gear, such that we can now pack two audiometers, a tympanometer, two sets of digital programming gear, three solid state laptops , two digital otoscopes and a water bottle into one backpack (Keshab’s) instead of two 30 kg cases on the back of a mule! A separate backpack carries our portable solar panels and inverters. We can go anywhere, we think!

We can do that which we do because:
1. VOLUNTEERS

  • Our committee, past and present, tirelessly have built us through the formative years to today’s platform.
  • photo2-300x225Fundraising. Jodie and Eddie are running a half marathon to promote our cause and raise some cash. Last checked $1500. Like to spur her on? Donate via http://run.gofundraise.com.au/page/CompassionInAction
  • Other volunteers repair aids for, have fund raisers and actively engage in promoting our cause to attract more sponsors. AFTER ALL, DONATIONS (over $2) TO OUR APPROVED FUND ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
  • In Nepal, a local baker likes to share in our projects “As usual bakery person Ganesh provide us doughnut and we gave that for Manoj’s orphan home.
  • And YES, after you have given us your support, we will gladly include you in one of our adventures overseas.

2. GENEROUS SUPPORT.

  • Hearing care providers send us pre more or less loved aids to be tested and refitted in Nepal. That’s what makes your program possible, as previously it was an insurmountable ongoing cost.
  • More generous donors to HH&H

    More generous donors

Many are so kind, from caring pensioners who compassionately donate $50 to a couple of families who can spare substantially more. Donations come regularly from families as far away as Oman, Romania and Denmark!

  • Hearing companies and suppliers contribute enormously, in the form of money for wages in Nepal, and parts for hearing aids, and subsidised devices. Most are named on our web pages. May you be happy in the thought that you have done so much for so many.

And how many is that?
Ngawang Sangye, a monk from Sera Jhe in southern India asked for a basis for which to rejoice.
So Ngawang, here goes….

  • 25 Remote hearing camps since January 2010
  • 6486 attended of which 3150 were 21yrs and under
  • 492 hearing devices were fitted in these camps
  • generous baker

  • Keshab also fits devices in conjunction with Shechen Clinic and Hospice camps, these also are supplied by HH&H.
